Yeah I know, it’s not next week yet. Let’s say I’m making up for being late this week, okay?…
Three new songs that have been torturing me this week, especially the song by the Cardigans, mesmerizing..what can it mean?..maybe it doesn’t mean anything..Also I would like to say a few words about that wretched Katie Melua song. Those who know me are familiar with my disgust for Katie Melua in general and my assessment of her lyrics..(overall substance of homeopathic proportions)..But the radio playing in the lab adjacent to my room doesn’t seem to get enough of it. Seriously, I think we all know how many bicycles there are in Beijing by now, so give it a rest!!
What’s up with that anyway?! You’re in love with someone, so what do you tell them? Yeah, honey, you know what? There’s this huge amount of bicycles in a city in China, isn’t that neat? That’ll make a great hallmark card..
What’s so romantic about a bunch of statistics? And not even sound statistics for that matter! How does she even know? Has she checked? Does she take into account the number of new bicycles produced each day? Or the number of bikes discarded and slowly destroyed by corrosion? Is a half-corroded bike still one bike, or does that count as half a bike? Does she address this in her 4 minute song? No! She just keeps on repeating the statement without any argumentative support. Or valid conclusions for that matter!
We should send her out there to do some real research…that’ll at least stop her from pestering us with her mind-numbingly, brain meltingly feeble songs!
Anyways, I gotta go, working tomorrow as well..oh well..you gotta love being an scientist….
