I have already posted the link to PhD comics on this space, but I really wanted to share this comic because it so aptly depicts my feelings when I look at semi-scientific shows. It’s so frustrating to see people solve intricate mysteries in half an hour using techniques that take days if not weeks in the real world. Plus they completely fail to take into account that most experiments fail or blow up the first time around. (And that most of the chemicals needed for analysis are usually lost in a dodgy refrigerator or way past their expiry date or both)
I do try to contain myself, but I end up yelling at the television set anyway most times. Which is itself a very ineffective method for solving things but very good for tension release. Even if it means I get banned from the tv room once in a while.
