Our good friend Martien came over, and brought along a selection of his beautiful whiskey collection. Combined with our own collection it made for a fine evening of tasting and err.. some more tasting!. The two Dutch whiskeys (Millstone and Frysk Hynder) held up nicely against heavyweights as the Laphroaig 15 and the Aberlour 10 and 12. The Balvenie 12 with its spicy honeyed aftertaste and the sturdy rounded Cardhu were balmy and wonderful. But the definite highlights of the evening were the earth shatteringly smokey Caol Ila and the impressive cask strength Glengoyne.
Ah, good whiskey, good friends..
Doesn’t really get better than that.
PS: At the end of the evening we decided to make glamour pictures of our beautiful combined collection. With so many amazing whiskeys in one place, we just couldn’t resist. (Oh, and for some reason, we thought the violin would be a good idea..)
