Queensday in Groningen

Well.. last Saturday was Queensday, when we celebrate our Queen’s birthday.. even though it isn’t her actual birthday. It is always a good reason for festivities and the consumption of beer.

I spent the day hanging around the canals with a friend, sitting in the sun eating ice cream and drinking wine. But the highlight of the day (or should I say night) was a performance by ‘The Suitable Guys’   (Christof Bauwens, Eric Boschman, Jeroen de Jong en Dim Junius) in Café Marleen.

They were AMAZING! They played a lot of Johnny Cash, which makes you a hero in my book anyway, and their guitar player (Christof Bauwens) is a maniac!! I have never seen anyone play like that! He’d just come from the main stage on the Grote Markt to chill in Marleen. Blew my mind.

Long live the Queen!
